NEW DELHI: Today (29th July): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case in Rouse Avenue Court. This development occurs as the Delhi High Court prepares to review Kejriwal’s bail plea in a money laundering case linked to the alleged scam.
The CBI submitted the chargesheet to the special CBI court at Rouse Avenue, according to reports. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 while already in Tihar prison under remand from a related Enforcement Directorate (ED) case.
The CBI is investigating alleged corruption in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s excise policy formulation and implementation, while the ED is focusing on the money laundering aspect. Kejriwal was initially arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the money laundering case related to the Delhi government’s repealed excise policy.

Alongside Kejriwal, AAP leader Manish Sisodia and Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader K. Kavitha are also accused in the case.
The CBI previously informed the court that Arvind Kejriwal was involved in the conspiracy surrounding the liquor scam and that all Delhi government decisions were made solely under his instructions.
The agency also claimed that Rs 44.45 crore was moved through ‘hawala channels’ to Goa between June 2021 and January 2022. According to the chargesheet, these funds were utilized in the AAP’s assembly election campaign.
This amount was part of the Rs 100 crore in bribes received by the party. On March 21 of this year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy scam following raids at his residence.
The Supreme Court recently granted interim bail to Kejriwal in the ED case. The court is scheduled to hear Sisodia’s bail pleas in both cases on Monday.
