The court will now pronounce its order on December 4, 2025.
Special CBI Judge Vishal Gogne was hearing the case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Lalu Yadav and other accused. The matter concerns alleged irregular appointments made in the Group-D category of the West Central Railway Zone based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Union Railway Minister (2004–2009).
According to the CBI chargesheet, candidates were allegedly appointed in exchange for land parcels that were either gifted or transferred to members of Lalu Yadav’s family or his close associates.
CBI Allegations
The CBI has alleged that these appointments violated established recruitment norms and involved benami transactions, amounting to criminal conspiracy and misuse of official position. The agency filed chargesheets against:
- Lalu Prasad Yadav
- Rabri Devi (former Bihar Chief Minister and Lalu’s wife)
- Tejashwi Yadav (Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Lalu’s son)
- And several other individuals are linked to the alleged scam.
The prosecution, represented by Special Public Prosecutor D.P. Singh, argued that the evidence supports framing charges under provisions related to corruption, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of power.
The defence, however, strongly refuted the allegations, calling the case politically motivated. Lawyers representing the Yadav family asserted that there is no direct evidence linking the accused to any unlawful recruitment or property transaction.
After hearing detailed arguments from both sides, the court had earlier reserved its order on framing charges. The pronouncement, originally expected this week, has now been postponed to December 4, when the court is likely to decide whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed to trial.
