New Delhi: A Delhi court postponed its decision on the framing of charges in the purported land-for-job scam involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members, and others.
Special CBI Judge Vishal Gogne instructed the CBI to submit a status report, confirming the current status of the accused individuals in the case. Among the 103 accused, four have passed away.
Judge Gogne rescheduled the matter for further proceedings on December 8.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted chargesheets against Lalu Yadav, his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, their son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, among others, in relation to the alleged scam.
The prosecution asserts that appointments to the Group-D category of the West Central Zone of the Railways, based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, occurred during Lalu Yadav’s term as railway minister from 2004 to 2009.
These appointments were reportedly made in exchange for land parcels provided by the recruits in the name of Lalu Yadav’s family or associates.
The CBI has also alleged that these appointments were in breach of regulations and involved benami properties, constituting criminal misconduct and conspiracy. The accused have rejected the allegations, asserting that the case is politically motivated.
