Uttar Pradesh: In a rare and unusual courtroom incident that has gone viral, a judge from Gonda, Uttar Pradesh issued a legal notice on 30th May 2025 against a court staffer over stale biscuits being served during an official visit.

As per the notice issued by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Court Number-1, Gonda, it was stated that on the afternoon of 30th May 2025, the judge was in his chamber during break time when the Judge-in-Charge (JRC)/PA Naveen, accompanied by Gonda Sub-Registrar Sharif Saheb, came to meet him. At that moment, the judge asked the staff member to bring tea and biscuits for the guests.

Only tea was brought by the staff member.

Upon the judge’s request to bring biscuits again, the staffer instead brought “dalmoth (namkeen)” in a bad condition which had a foul smell.

The judge further pointed out that there were two containers of good-quality biscuits already kept in the cupboard.

Despite knowing this, the staffer deliberately served the stale and spoiled dalmoth, which was in a condition to be thrown away.

The judge termed this act a “serious negligence” and directed the staffer to provide a written explanation.

The staffer has been ordered to present a clear written clarification on 31st May 2025 at 10:30 AM explaining why such deliberate and gross negligence was committed.
