Jolly LLB 3 | Pune Court Summons Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi for Alleged Insult to Judiciary: Court Hearing On 28 August

PUNE: A civil court in Pune has issued summons to actors Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and director Subhash Kapoor, asking them to appear in court over allegations that the film disrespects the judiciary and mocks the legal profession.

The hearing is scheduled for August 28, 2025.

What is the Complaint Against Jolly LLB 3?

The complaint was filed by advocates Wajed Rahim Khan, Wazed Khan Bidkar, and Ganesh Mhaske, who allege that the teaser of the film portrays the judicial system in a negative light. The petitioners objected to:

The petitioners argue that these depictions are not just satirical but also disrespectful to lawyers, judges, and the judicial system as a whole. They have sought a ban on the release of the film.

Advocate Wajed Rahim Khan told ANI:

“There should be respect for the lawyers. Whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong. That is why I filed a petition in the Pune court. And the court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and the director to be present.”

About Jolly LLB 3

The Jolly LLB franchise is one of Bollywood’s most successful courtroom comedy-dramas.

Now, in Jolly LLB 3, the two actors come together for the first time, reprising their respective “Jolly” roles. The film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Annu Kapoor in key roles. Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare under Star Studio 18, the movie is set to release in theatres on September 19, 2025.

This is not the first time the Jolly LLB series has faced legal scrutiny. In 2017, Jolly LLB 2 also attracted petitions claiming it misrepresented the legal system. With Jolly LLB 3 now facing similar objections, it highlights the ongoing debate between creative freedom in cinema and respect for institutions like the judiciary.
