'Jolly LLB 3' | Complaint Against Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi Film Over Disrespecting the Judiciary

AJMER: Recently, The highly anticipated Bollywood release, ‘Jolly LLB 3,’ featuring stars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, finds itself embroiled in a legal controversy. The film, which promised entertainment, now faces serious allegations as a complaint has been lodged against it in an Ajmer court. Chandrabhan Singh Rathod, President of the Ajmer District Bar Association, has taken a stand, accusing the movie of undermining the dignity of the judiciary. The complaint, directed at the film’s producer, director, and cast, raises questions about the portrayal of lawyers and judges on screen.

The complaint was lodged in the court of Civil Judge Ajmer North, and Rathod has requested the court to issue a notice to halt the filming of the movie.

The hearing of the case is scheduled for May 7.

“It appears that the filmmakers, directors, and actors involved in ‘Jolly LLB 3’ have shown little regard for the dignity and stature of the country’s judiciary as outlined in the Constitution. The ongoing shooting of the film in various villages and locales, including the DRM office of Ajmer, is expected to persist for several days.”

-said Rathod.

He further stated-

“Even amidst the filming process, the actors involved in the movie appear to lack seriousness regarding the image, prestige, and dignity of the judiciary, including its judges.”

Rathod’s concern stems from the portrayal of lawyers and judges in the film, which he believes is disrespectful and misrepresents real-life situations.

“The portrayal of lawyers and judges in the film appears incongruous when juxtaposed with real-life scenarios. Regarded as both comedic and disrespectful, this depiction undermines the standing of the judiciary and the integrity of legal professionals.”

– Rathod emphasized.

He also pointed out specific scenes that he finds objectionable.

“Scenes depicting physical assault on a lawyer, pursuit with a stick, a judge consuming ‘gutkha,’ and financial transactions are wholly inappropriate and contradict the dignity and prestige associated with the court, judiciary, lawyers, and judges.”

-he said.

Rathod’s complaint aims to address these issues during the production process.

“Through the complaint, I will advocate for measures to address these concerns during the filming process. I will request issuing a notice to the filmmakers and imposing a ban on the movie.”

-he added.

The first ‘Jolly LLB’ film was released in 2013, followed by a sequel in 2017. In the third installment, it is expected that Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi will be seen at loggerheads, with Saurabh Shukla reprising his role as a judge.
