Howrah Court||Mother and Her Boyfriend Convicted in Child's Murder Case

Howrah: On 27th February, A speedy trial conducted in Howrah has found a mother, Hasina Sultana, and her boyfriend, Vannur Shayer, guilty of murdering their one-and-a-half-year-old child, Sheikh Zeeshan Ahmed, in a horrific incident that originated in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. The events took a gruesome turn as the child’s lifeless body was transported by train to Howrah, unraveling a complex web of deceit.

On January 24, 2016, the Falaknuma Express arrived at Howrah, setting the stage for a shocking discovery. Railway cleaners stumbled upon an unclaimed red-black bag under a seat, and upon opening it, they were confronted with the horrifying sight of the murdered child’s body, bearing deep injuries. This prompted the Howrah Government Railway Police (GRP) to initiate a thorough investigation.

The narrative unfolded as the GRP traced the origins back to Tenali Police Station in Andhra Pradesh, where a lookout notice had been issued by the grieving grandmother, Rashida Bibi. The notice, featuring pictures of Hasina and Zeeshan, caught the attention of the Howrah GRP, linking the missing child to the one found in the bag.

The sinister plot began in the Ricemill Colony of Tenali Police Station, where Hasina lived with her son and her mother after a falling out with her in-laws. The troubled relationship with her husband led Hasina to kick him out, making way for her childhood lover, Vallur Shayer. Their love story took a dark turn when they decided to eliminate the obstacle posed by young Zeeshan.

On December 22, 2015, Hasina left her mother’s house under the pretext of attending a wedding with Zeeshan. Unbeknownst to anyone, she traveled to Hyderabad, where the heinous act unfolded. Hasina and Vallur posed as a married couple in Banjara Hills, claiming Zeeshan as their son. The gruesome climax occurred on January 22, 2016, when they killed Zeeshan and transported his lifeless body via Phalknuma Express to Howrah.

Rashida’s concern led to a police complaint, and the subsequent lookout notice ultimately connected the dots. Hasina and Vallur were arrested in Andhra Pradesh and brought to trial in Howrah. The shocking revelation during the interrogation left both perpetrators admitting to their crimes.

Public lawyer Arindam Mukhopadhyay stated-

“The sentence of this case will be announced next Thursday, February 29. Before that, the court will ask the accused to know whether they have any say about the sentence?” The government lawyer emphasized the gravity of the crime, saying, “The brutal manner in which a mother killed her one-and-a-half-year-old child and then smuggled the child’s body to Vimraj by train in cold blood is really rare among the rare. The maximum punishment in this case, i.e., death, has been imposed by the government side. The prayer for sentencing will be placed before the court.”
