Today, On 7th May, The hearing for the bail plea in the HD Revanna kidnapping case postponed. The court decided to reschedule the hearing for a later date. This delay indicates that more time is needed to review the details and arguments related to the case. The decision about bail for the accused in this high-profile case remains pending.
Karnataka: MLA H. D. Revanna, who currently in the custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), unable to obtain relief from the Special Court for Elected Representatives. The bail plea hearing has been adjourned to Wednesday.
The 66-year-old former Minister arrested by the SIT on Saturday in connection with an alleged abduction case involving a woman. He has been remanded to police custody until May 8. His anticipatory bail plea rejected by the court on Saturday.
Revanna, the son of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, and his associate Sathish Babanna, were accused of abducting a woman on April 29. The case filed based on a complaint lodged by the woman’s son, who claimed that his mother sexually abused by Revanna’s son and JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.
The SIT also gained custody of Babanna.
According to police sources, the woman purportedly kidnapped to hinder her testimony against Prajwal.
They stated,
“The motive behind the abduction was to prevent her from giving evidence in court.”
Following the circulation of explicit videos allegedly depicting sexual abuse by Prajwal, the state government took action by establishing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on April 28. This decision came after the Karnataka State Commission for Women wrote a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging an investigation into the matter.

Prajwal, aged 33, who contested for the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency as part of the NDA, reportedly left the country on April 27, immediately after the elections. He failed to comply with the SIT’s summons to appear before them.
In response to his evasion, Interpol issued a Blue Corner notice against the absconding Member of Parliament, who is currently facing charges of sexual abuse.
