A Hathras court will hear a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi on March 24 regarding his comments on the 2020 gang-rape case, which allegedly defamed acquitted individuals.

Hathras: A special court in Hathras has scheduled March 24 as the next hearing date in a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the 2020 Hathras gang-rape case, an advocate confirmed.
On Saturday, the MP-MLA court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepak Nath Saraswati recorded the statement of complainant Ramkumar alias Ramu, who was acquitted in the rape case. The case will now be heard again on March 24, according to advocate Munna Singh Pundir.
The defamation case stems from Gandhi’s statements following the Hathras incident, where he made comments that allegedly defamed individuals later acquitted by the court.
In September 2020, a Dalit girl from a village in Hathras was allegedly gang-raped and later died in a Delhi hospital while undergoing treatment.
Four men from her village were accused of committing the crime. However, after the trial:
- Three of them – Ramkumar, Luvkush, and Ravi – were acquitted.
- Only one, Sandeep, was found guilty and remains in jail.
Now, with the court moving forward with the defamation case, all eyes are on the next hearing on March 24, where further developments in the legal battle against Rahul Gandhi will be closely watched.
