The movie “Fighter,” featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, has encountered legal difficulties after receiving a legal notice accusing it of ‘defaming and insulting’ the Indian Air Force and its officers. The notice alleges that the film portrays the Indian Air Force in a negative light, leading to controversy and legal action.

The Bollywood blockbuster “Fighter,” featuring megastars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, has found itself embroiled in controversy following a legal notice over a scene depicting the actors sharing a kiss while donned in Indian Air Force (IAF) uniforms. The notice, issued by Wing Commander Saumya Deep Das, an officer of the IAF, raises concerns over the portrayal of military personnel and the potential impact on the force’s esteemed image.

The legal document articulates a profound respect for the IAF uniform, emphasizing it as
“a powerful symbol of unwavering commitment to duty, national security, and selfless service.”
It further argues that the film’s scene, by associating the uniform with
“personal romantic entanglements,”
not only misrepresents the dignity inherent to the attire but also
“devalues the profound sacrifices made by countless officers in service of our nation.”
Highlighting the gravity of the issue, the notice elaborates on the potential repercussions of such portrayals, suggesting that it
“normalizes inappropriate behaviour in uniform,”
thereby setting a “dangerous precedent.” Specifically, it criticizes the act of kissing in uniform, particularly within the confines of a technical area such as a runway, as
“grossly inappropriate and unbecoming of an IAF officer.”
This act, according to the notice, starkly contradicts the
“high standards of discipline and decorum”
expected from military personnel.
