The Enforcement Directorate (ED) made a claim in court that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is consuming mangoes and aloo poori despite being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. This revelation is purportedly aimed at establishing grounds for Kejriwal’s medical bail.

NEW DELHI: Today (18 April): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in judicial custody over an excise scam case, has come under scrutiny for his dietary choices. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleged that Kejriwal, despite being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, has been consuming high-sugar foods like mangoes and sweets daily.

The ED claims that this behavior is an attempt to create grounds for medical bail. The matter has been brought before the court, which has directed the Tihar jail authorities to provide a report on Kejriwal’s diet chart.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s dietary preferences have become a subject of contention amid his legal battle. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating an excise scam case involving Kejriwal, has accused him of consuming foods high in sugar on a daily basis, despite being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. According to the ED, this behavior is a deliberate attempt to create grounds for medical bail.

The ED presented its claims before a special judge for CBI and ED cases, Kaveri Baweja, who responded by directing the Tihar jail authorities to provide a detailed report on Kejriwal’s diet chart. The report is expected to shed light on the CM’s dietary habits and help ascertain the veracity of the ED’s allegations.

In his defense, Kejriwal’s counsel argued that his client’s blood sugar levels have been fluctuating, citing a recent instance where they dropped to 46. As a result, Kejriwal sought permission to consult his regular doctor via video conferencing. The court, headed by Special Judge Rakesh Syal, asked the ED to respond to this application and scheduled a hearing for the matter.

The judge further instructed the concerned authorities to submit the requested report by the following day, indicating that the issue would be revisited during the next court session.

The ED’s claim that Kejriwal is consuming high-sugar-content foods such as ‘aloo poori,’ mangoes, and sweets on a daily basis has raised concerns regarding his health. It remains to be seen whether the provided diet chart will substantiate these allegations.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s supporters, including AAP MP Sanjay Singh and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, have voiced their concerns over his treatment in Tihar Jail. Singh, who had also spent time in the same jail, accused the central government of denying Kejriwal even the most basic rights. Similarly, Mann claimed that the prison authorities were treating Kejriwal like a “terrorist,” emphasizing the lack of access to necessary facilities.
