Today, On 17th November, A Delhi Court has remanded Amir Rashid Ali to ten days of NIA custody in the Red Fort blast case. Investigators say he helped procure the explosive-laden vehicle that killed thirteen people and injured others during November attack.

A Delhi Court has placed Amir Rashid Ali, who was arrested in connection with the fatal Red Fort blast, in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for ten days.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna of Patiala House Court issued the remand.

The NIA reports that Ali had traveled to Delhi last year to assist in acquiring the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated near the Red Fort on November 10, resulting in 13 fatalities and numerous injuries.

Following the NIA’s assumption of the investigation from the Delhi Police, Ali was captured during a sustained search operation.

Ali, a resident of Samboora in Pampore, was apprehended in Delhi on November 16 for allegedly facilitating the vehicle that served as a car-borne improvised explosive device.

Notably, the vehicle involved in the blast was registered in his name.

According to the NIA press release, Ali conspired with the purported suicide bomber, Umar Un Nabi from Pulwama, to carry out the attack. Investigators assert that Ali journeyed to Delhi to help obtain the vehicle that was subsequently transformed into a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.

Forensic analysis has confirmed that the deceased driver of the explosive-laden car was Nabi, who served as an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University, Faridabad.

The NIA has also confiscated another vehicle linked to Nabi, which is currently under examination for evidence. To date, 73 witnesses, including survivors who were injured, have been interrogated in the case.

The agency is actively collaborating with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other central agencies to trace the overarching network involved in the attack. Multiple leads are being pursued to identify additional suspects and outline the full extent of the conspiracy recorded as RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

Earlier after the incident, In a briefing following the explosion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that a Hyundai i20 car had exploded at the Subhash Marg traffic signal. He stated that top agencies are investigating the incident “taking all possibilities into account,” and assured that the findings will be made public.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also assessed the situation and conferred with Home Minister Shah.

PM Modi mentioned in a post on X,

“Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover as soon as possible. Those affected are being assisted by authorities,”

At least eight individuals lost their lives, and 30 others were injured in a powerful explosion that detonated near the Red Fort as a slow-moving car passed by. The blast, characterized as high intensity, ignited multiple vehicles and shattered nearby windows.

A powerful explosion took place near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on the evening of November 10, 2025, killing at least eight people and injuring more than twenty others.

The blast occurred around 6:52 pm when a white Hyundai i20 car stopped at a traffic signal near Gate 1 of the metro station.

The explosion set the car ablaze and damaged several nearby vehicles, including auto-rickshaws, while shattering windows in the busy area near Chandni Chowk and the Red Fort. The incident caused panic among locals and tourists in one of Delhi’s most crowded zones.

According to officials, the car was registered in Gurugram and had changed ownership multiple times, prompting police to detain the former owner for questioning.

Investigating agencies suspect the involvement of a terror module and have invoked provisions under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act.

Home Minister Amit Shah called a high-level security meeting soon after the blast, and the Red Fort area, including the metro station, was sealed off for investigation.
