In a recent development, Delhi’s Patiala House Court has delayed its decision on the cancellation report submitted by the Delhi Police in the POCSO case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the outgoing chairman of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The case was initiated based on a complaint from a minor female wrestler.
Special (POCSO) Judge Chhavi Kapoor has set October 6 as the date to deliver the order on the report. Previously, on August 1, the court had held back its decision on the cancellation report after considering the responses from the minor wrestler and her father, who did not contest the report.
Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava informed the media that the minor wrestler and her father expressed satisfaction with the Delhi Police’s investigation.
“They did not oppose the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police,”
Srivastava stated. The duo had appeared in court in response to a notice, and the hearing was conducted privately, following in-camera proceedings.
Earlier, on June 15, the Delhi Police had submitted a cancellation report in the Patiala House Court concerning the case against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, filed under the POCSO Act. This comprehensive report spans over 500 pages. Subsequently, on July 4, the Patiala House Court issued a notice to the complainant and her father.
In a related development, a charge sheet was also presented in the Rouse Avenue Court concerning a sexual harassment case. The Rouse Avenue Court, after acknowledging the charge sheet, issued a summons to Singh. Upon his appearance in court, Singh was granted bail.
This case continues to draw significant attention, highlighting the complexities surrounding high-profile individuals and the legal proceedings associated with them.
