Bihar: Recently, the Bhojpur District court ordered a life sentence to CPI (ML) Liberation MLA Manoj Manzil for a 2015 murder case. Manzil intends to challenge the verdict at the Patna High Court. Manzil, representing Agiaon, might face disqualification under Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act due to his conviction.
The court also sentenced 22 others to life imprisonment for the murder of Jaiprakash Singh in Badgaon, Azimabad police station area. According to Chandan Kumar, Jaiprakash Singh’s son, his father was attacked by 23 individuals, including Manzil, with sticks and bricks while returning home in 2015. The deceased was allegedly taken to an undisclosed location and his mutilated body was found a week later in the Azimabad police station area.
Following the ruling, Manzil, who was present at the state assembly’s budget session, was immediately arrested by the police and taken to Ara, Bhojpur’s district headquarters, where he expressed his intention to appeal the decision.
