In the Land-for-Jobs scam case, the court postponed its decision on whether to file charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The delay prolongs the legal proceedings involving the prominent political figures.

New Delhi: In a significant development in the alleged land-for-jobs scam, a Delhi court on Saturday deferred its decision on taking cognizance of the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) supplementary charge sheet.
The charge sheet implicates former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne postponed the ruling to September 7, citing the need for additional clarifications. The supplementary charge sheet originally submitted on August 6, following an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The case revolves around alleged Group-D job appointments in the West Central Zone of the railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Yadav’s tenure from 2004 to 2009. The ED claims these positions were exchanged for land parcels that were either gifted or transferred to the family of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader or his associates.
The land-for-jobs scam dates back to Lalu Prasad Yadav‘s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. During this period, it is alleged that Group-D job appointments in the West Central Zone of the railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, made in exchange for land parcels. These land parcels were reportedly either gifted or transferred to Lalu Prasad’s family members or associates.

The CBI’s investigation into the matter led to the registration of an FIR, which laid the groundwork for the ED’s involvement in probing the financial aspects of the alleged scam. The ED’s charge sheet adds another layer to the case by detailing the money laundering angle, implicating Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav, and others in the illegal transactions that allegedly took place during the job appointments.
As the case progresses, the implications for Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and the other accused individuals could be substantial, potentially affecting their political careers and reputations. The court’s forthcoming decision will be closely watched by legal experts and the public alike, as it could set the tone for the subsequent legal battles in this case.
