A court directed jail authorities to monitor Amanatullah Khan’s blood sugar levels twice a day. The order comes in response to concerns about Khan’s health during his time in custody. Authorities are required to ensure regular medical supervision to manage his condition. This step aims to safeguard his well-being while incarcerated.

The Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday instructed jail authorities to monitor the blood sugar levels of AAP MLA Amanat Ullah Khan twice a day, citing his medical condition. The court issued this order while addressing Khan’s request to be allowed a glucometer during his judicial custody.

Khan currently in custody in connection with the Delhi Waqf Board money laundering case.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne, after considering the submissions from the jail authorities, directed that Khan’s blood sugar levels be checked twice daily. Additionally, the court ordered that arrangements for warm water be made available for him while in custody.

The judge ordered on October 9,

“Having reviewed the documents and submissions, it is directed that the accused’s sugar levels shall be tested twice daily at regular intervals, and also if the accused reports any discomfort and requests additional testing. The jail authorities shall ensure constant availability of warm water for the accused,”

The court disposed of Khan’s request for permission to use an electric kettle and a glucometer, considering his medical condition related to diabetes, with these instructions in place.

The jail authorities have clarified that they are equipped to provide regular monitoring of the accused’s sugar levels and supply him with warm water. MLA Amanatullah Khan, who is in judicial custody until October 21, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 2 in connection with the Delhi Waqf Board money laundering case. He is accused of purchasing property worth Rs. 36 crores in Okhla. On October 7, Special Judge Vishal Gogne extended Khan’s judicial custody after hearing arguments from both the ED and defense counsel.

The Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) for the ED sought an extension of Khan’s judicial custody, stating,

“We will file a supplementary charge sheet against the accused, Amanatullah Khan.”

It was argued earlier that Khan is the main accused in the case and that the investigation is ongoing. The ED further expressed concern that he could tamper with evidence if not kept in custody.

However, Advocate Rajat Bhardwaj, along with Kaustubh Khanna, representing the accused, opposed the request for extending the judicial custody.”
