Today, On 19th June, A Delhi court extended Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until July 3. This decision follows recent legal proceedings involving the Delhi Chief Minister. The extension means Kejriwal will remain in custody for additional weeks.
New Delhi: Rouse Avenue court, on Wednesday extended Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody till July 3. The court’s decision means that Kejriwal will remain in custody for the time being as the investigation into the case continues.
The Court also extended the judicial custody of Vinod Chauhan until July 3. Both individuals appeared before the court via video conferencing from Tihar Jail.

The Enforcement Directorate presented evidence to the Rouse Avenue Court, alleging that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal demanded a sum of Rs 100 crore as kickbacks in the now-withdrawn liquor policy case. This revelation came during a court hearing regarding Kejriwal’s petition seeking regular bail.
The Additional Solicitor General, S.V. Raju, informed the court that it has taken cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate, which outlines allegations of money laundering in the liquor policy case.
ASG Raju, representing the Enforcement Directorate, stated,
“The court’s cognizance of money laundering indicates that, prima facie, the court is convinced that a case of money laundering exists here. The CBI investigation revealed that Kejriwal demanded a bribe of Rs. 100 crore. We had gathered evidence even before the arrest.”
He further mentioned that a prosecution complaint against Vinod Chauhan, who arrested in May, will be filed by the end of this month.
The court, On June 7, declined to grant bail to Arvind Kejriwal after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed its response in the case.

Earlier, the same court dismissed Kejriwal’s interim bail plea, which he had filed citing medical reasons. While dismissing the bail request, the court directed the Tihar Jail authorities to conduct all necessary medical tests and provide Kejriwal with appropriate treatment. The court also extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody until June 19.
Kejriwal initially arrested on March 21 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. He granted interim bail on May 10 to allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections until June 2, after which he surrendered to the authorities.
