A Bandra court instructed the Mumbai Police to investigate a complaint against Ekta Kapoor for allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in a web series episode, requiring a report by May 9.

Bandra: A Bandra magistrate’s court on Saturday (Feb 15th) directed the Mumbai Police to conduct an inquiry into a criminal complaint filed against film and television producer Ekta Kapoor for allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The court has asked for a detailed report by May 9 under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The complaint was lodged by YouTuber Vikas Pathak, also known as ‘Hindustani Bhau’, through his advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh. The complaint named not only Ekta Kapoor but also her OTT platform Alt Balaji and her parents, Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor.

According to the complaint, an episode on Alt Balaji depicted a military officer engaging in an “illicit sexual act” while wearing the Indian Army uniform with the national emblem on it.
Pathak claimed that he came across the episode in May 2020 and found the content to be deeply offensive and disrespectful to the Indian armed forces.
The complaint alleged that
“The accused have stooped to a cheap low and shamelessly targeted the dignity and pride of our country by depicting Indian Army military uniform in the illicit sexual act with national emblem on it.”

The court’s direction to the police means that law enforcement must now investigate the claims and submit their findings. If evidence supports the allegations, Ekta Kapoor and others named in the complaint could face legal action.
