The episode featured several popular content creators, including Ashish Chanchlani, stand-up comedian Jaspreet Singh, Ranveer Allahabadia, and Apoorva Makhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid. Samay Raina hosted the episode.
The controversy escalated as social media users demanded action from Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Many people expressed concern over the nature of humor portrayed on the show.
One user commented, “The standards of humour are falling day by day. It is disheartening to see such content on public platforms.”
Another social media user warned, “Such content can have a negative impact on young listeners. Authorities must intervene before it becomes a norm.”
Allahbadia Apologizes for Remarks, Emphasizes Respect for Family
Following backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter), expressing regret for his remarks and acknowledging their inappropriateness.
In a video statement, he admitted, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry.”
He further conceded, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy isn’t my forte. I personally had a lapse in judgment, which wasn’t acceptable, especially on a platform watched by people of all ages.”
Allahbadia reaffirmed his commitment to responsible content, stating, “Family is the last thing I would ever disrespect. I need to use this platform better—that’s my key takeaway from this experience.”
He also confirmed that he had requested the removal of the offensive portions from the video and vowed to improve.
Concluding his statement, he said, “All I can say is, I’m sorry. I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
A complaint filed against the show claimed that the remarks were made solely to generate controversy and financial gain, disregarding the impact on women’s dignity and the potential negative influence on minors.
Responding to the issue, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated,
“I have come to know about it but haven’t seen it yet. Freedom of speech exists, but it ends when it encroaches upon others’ rights. If societal norms are violated, it is absolutely wrong, and action should be taken.”
Former National Commission for Women (NCW) Chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma also condemned the remarks, calling the video “shocking.”
She asserted, “Regardless of gender, such jokes are unacceptable in society. Making jokes about a mother or a female’s body is morally degrading. It negatively influences others in creative fields. I have forwarded the video to the NCW Chairperson for action.”
Shiv Sena spokesperson Raju Wagamare also denounced the remarks, warning the show’s producers, “In Maharashtra, under the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj, such language will not be tolerated. They should put an end to this immediately, or we will act in our own way.”
The complaint further highlighted the severity of the issue, emphasizing the harm caused to women’s dignity.
“This incident involves deliberate obscene remarks about women’s private parts, aimed at gaining popularity and monetary benefits,” the letter stated.
The complainant demanded immediate legal action against the organizers of India’s Got Latent, urging a halt to its broadcast and the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under the Indian Penal Code against all involved.
Earlier, Samay Raina’s reality show ‘India’s Got Latent’ is facing legal trouble after a contestant from Arunachal Pradesh, Jessy Nabam, made controversial comments about the people of her state. The issue has sparked outrage, leading to a First Information Report (FIR) being filed against her.

During a members-only episode of ‘India’s Got Latent,’ host Samay Raina asked Jessy Nabam if she had ever eaten dog meat.
In response, she said “People of Arunachal Pradesh eat dog meat even though I have never tasted it.”
She further added “I know because my friends eat it. They even eat their pets at times.”
Her comments left Samay Raina shocked.
Another panelist, Balraj Singh Ghai, reacted by saying“Now, you’re saying it for the sake of saying it.”
However, Jessy Nabam insisted that her statement was true. The episode also featured comedians Akash Gupta and Mallika Dua on the judges’ panel.
FIR Filed Against Jessy Nabam
Following the viral video of the episode, an FIR was registered against Jessy Nabam. The complaint, dated January 31, 2025, was filed at Itanagar Police Station, Arunachal Pradesh, by Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a resident of Seppa, East Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh.
The FIR alleges that Jessy Nabam made derogatory remarks about the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh. The complaint urges strict action against her to prevent similar incidents in the future. The FIR states:
“I humble request you that please take quick action in this matter for in the future no one could do it again like Jessy Nabam did.”
