Bihar Man Files Unusual Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi Over 'Indian State' Remark | Cites Milk Loss Worth Rs 250

Bihar: In a bizarre turn of events, a man from Bihar’s Samastipur district has filed a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming his recent remarks caused him to drop a bucket of milk, leading to a Rs 250 loss. The complainant, Mukesh Chaudhary, alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s statement about fighting the Indian State left him so shocked that he inadvertently dropped his milk bucket.

The Incident and Complaint Details

Chaudhary filed the complaint in a civil court in Rosera sub-division, accusing Gandhi of making statements that “threatened the sovereignty of the nation.” He said,

“I was in such a state of shock that my bucket full of five litres of milk, priced at Rs 50 per litre, slipped off my hand. Rahul Gandhi was threatening the sovereignty of the nation.”

The plea seeks Gandhi’s trial under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 152, which pertains to sedition. As of now, it is unclear whether the court has admitted the complaint.

Controversial Remarks Spark Widespread Reaction

The controversy stems from Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during the inauguration of the Congress party’s new headquarters in New Delhi on January 15, 2025. Gandhi criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for claiming that India’s true independence began with the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He stated,

“The BJP and RSS have captured every single institution, and we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself.”

These comments drew sharp criticism from the BJP. Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who is also the BJP president, said,

“They neither know about history nor have anything to do with it. I have said many times that their speechwriters write anything, and they just read it anywhere.”

Additional FIR in Assam

The controversy further escalated as an FIR was registered against Gandhi in Assam by Monjit Chetia, citing Sections 152 and 197(1)d of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly threatening the country’s sovereignty and fostering separatist sentiments. According to Chetia, Gandhi’s statement “delegitimizes the authority of the state and portrays it as a hostile entity. Such remarks create a dangerous narrative, which could incite unrest and foster separatist sentiments.”

A Peculiar Development

While Chaudhary’s plea about losing milk is unusual, it highlights the broader backlash Rahul Gandhi has faced over his comments. The court’s decision on whether to admit the complaint remains to be seen, adding yet another chapter to the political uproar surrounding Gandhi’s statements.
