BIHAR: ED Files Charges in Railway Land-for-Jobs Scandal Involving Former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and MP Daughter Misa Bharti. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken a significant step in the ongoing railways land-for-jobs case by filing its first charge sheet against key political figures. Among those named are former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her Member of Parliament daughter, Misa Bharti. This development intensifies the scrutiny on the family of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, underlining the alleged corruption during his tenure as Railway Minister.
The charge sheet, submitted to a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in New Delhi, is set for a hearing on January 16. The case has drawn attention due to its high-profile nature and the involvement of Amit Katyal, an alleged close associate of the Yadav family, along with other individuals and companies. Katyal’s arrest last November added momentum to the investigation, which has been closely watched by political analysts and the public alike.

The allegations center around the period between 2004 and 2009 when Lalu Prasad Yadav served as the Railway Minister. It is claimed that several individuals were appointed to Group “D” positions in different zones of the Indian Railways without proper public notice or advertisement. In return, it is alleged that these individuals transferred land to Yadav’s family members and a company linked to them, AK Infosystems Private Limited, as quid pro quo for their appointments.
This case, stemming from a CBI complaint, has now evolved into a money laundering investigation under the stringent provisions of the PMLA. The involvement of high-ranking political figures in this case has sparked a debate on the integrity of public office and the misuse of power in Indian politics.
As the case progresses, all eyes are on the upcoming hearing, which promises to shed more light on the intricate web of transactions and appointments that mark this significant case in Indian political history.
