“Das was supposed to go to Chattogram by air from Dhaka,”
-confirmed Gaurang Das Brahmachari, a key organizer of the Sanatani Jagran Jote, as cited by Media.

India’s Sharp Response to the Arrest
The Indian government has expressed serious concerns over the arrest of the Hindu leader. In a statement issued earlier today, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) termed the incident as “unfortunate” and criticized the handling of the situation by Bangladeshi authorities.
“We have noted with deep concern the arrest and denial of bail to Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is also the spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote. This incident follows the multiple attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist elements in Bangladesh. There are several documented cases of arson and looting of minorities’ homes and business establishments, as well as theft and vandalism and desecration of deities and temples,”
-the MEA said in a statement.
The Indian government emphasized the irony of prosecuting a religious leader advocating for minority rights while the perpetrators of violence against Hindus remain unpunished.
“It is unfortunate that while the perpetrators of these incidents remain at large, charges should be pressed against a religious leader presenting legitimate demands through peaceful gatherings. We also note with concern the attacks on minorities protesting peacefully against the arrest of Shri Das,”
-added the MEA statement.
The statement also urged Bangladesh to safeguard the rights of its Hindu and other minority communities.
“We urge Bangladesh authorities to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and all minorities, including their right of freedom of peaceful assembly and expression,”
-concluded the Ministry of External Affairs.
Growing Concerns Over Minority Rights in Bangladesh
This case comes amid heightened tensions over the safety and rights of religious minorities in Bangladesh. Activists and international observers have frequently documented incidents of violence, vandalism, and intimidation targeting Hindu communities in the country.
The arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das has further spotlighted these issues, drawing international attention to the challenges faced by minorities in Bangladesh.
As protests continue and diplomatic channels engage, the incident underscores the need for both justice and equitable treatment of all communities in the region.
