DELHI: Today(on 15th July), Tihar Jail authorities dismissed the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) claims concerning the health of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asserting that his vital signs were normal.
The prison officials clarified that Kejriwal’s health was under constant surveillance, and he was undergoing regular evaluations by medical experts. According to the Office of the Superintendent of Central Jail No. 2, Kejriwal has been adhering to a medically-prescribed diet, which includes home-cooked food as mandated by the court.
“Although he has experienced some weight loss, his vital signs remain stable, and he continues to receive proper medical attention for all his conditions.”

The prison administration further highlighted that health status reports counteract the assertions made by AAP ministers and legislators, labeling the narrative as “misleading and driven by ulterior motives” to discredit the prison management.
“The information has been shared with relevant government officials for their awareness and required actions. We can substantiate this with a documented weight chart showing a decrease from 63.5 kg to 61.5 kg between June 2 and July 14.”

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh criticized the Tihar Jail authorities, alleging that Arvind Kejriwal had lost 8.5 kg and experienced dangerous drops in his blood sugar levels five times since his incarceration. Singh accused the prison officials of committing a crime by disclosing Kejriwal’s medical report and refuted Tihar’s claims.
“A team of AIIMS doctors has been monitoring Arvind Kejriwal’s health and has observed rapid weight loss along with episodes of hypoglycemia. His blood sugar level dropped below 50 mg/dL on five occasions, posing risks of coma or even death.”

Singh further alleged-
“There is a conspiracy to push Arvind Kejriwal to his death. On the day of his arrest, his weight was 70 kg, which has now dropped to 61.5 kg. I urge PM Modi not to jeopardize Kejriwal’s life, as any untoward incident will pose challenges for the Centre to justify.”
Arvind Kejriwal surrendered at Tihar Jail on June 2 after his interim bail expired. The Supreme Court had granted this bail to allow him to campaign for his party during the recent Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal’s incarceration and the subsequent allegations about his health have sparked significant political controversy and public interest.
