Mumbai: The investigation into the death of Air India pilot Srishti Tuli has intensified, with Mumbai police focusing on retrieving deleted WhatsApp chats from her boyfriend’s phone for crucial leads.
Tuli (25) allegedly died by suicide in her rented flat in Marol, Andheri, on November 25. The next day, Powai police arrested her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit (27), on charges of abetment to suicide. Tuli reportedly hanged herself using a data cable in her flat at the ‘Kanakia Rain Forest’ building.
On Friday, a Mumbai court extended Pandit’s police remand until December 2, as the police argued that retrieving deleted WhatsApp messages between him and Tuli could provide vital information. Pandit was presented in an Andheri magistrate’s court after his initial remand expired.

According to the FIR, a relative accused Pandit of harassing and abusing Tuli, including pressuring her to stop consuming non-vegetarian food. Tuli, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been living in Mumbai for work since June last year. She met Pandit during a commercial pilot course in New Delhi two years ago, and the two began a relationship.
Reportedly, Tuli called Pandit while he was driving to Delhi, threatening to end her life. He rushed back to Mumbai, found her flat locked, and had it opened with the help of a key maker. Inside, he discovered Tuli hanging and took her to SevenHills Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. No suicide note was found.
Based on a complaint from Tuli’s uncle, Pandit was arrested under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 108 (abetment of suicide) and initially remanded to police custody for four days.
