YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently in jail after being accused of spying against India, has finally appointed a lawyer to represent her case in the Hisar District Court of Haryana.

Advocate Kumar Mukesh has taken up the responsibility of representing Jyoti in the legal proceedings. The first hearing in the case will take place on June 9 in Hisar Court.
Advocate Kumar Mukesh, who will argue the case on behalf of Jyoti Malhotra, submitted his authorisation (Vakalatnama) to the court. He informed the media that Jyoti, who is presently in jail, has signed the necessary legal document to allow him to represent her.
Speaking about the next legal step, Mukesh said:
“We will begin with the bail process.”

However, the lawyer mentioned that they are yet to receive the complete set of documents related to the case.
He explained:
“A copy of the documents has not been received yet, and the situation will be clear after receiving the documents.”
Once the documents are received and the case details are fully studied, the legal team plans to file a bail application.
According to him:
“In two to three days, after studying the entire case, a bail petition will be filed.”
The lawyer revealed that he was approached by Jyoti’s father, Harish Malhotra, to represent his daughter in court. However, at that time, Jyoti had not signed the Vakalatnama.
He said:
“At that time, the Vakalatnama could not be signed.”
Now that the paperwork has been completed, the legal process is expected to move forward.
Speaking about Jyoti’s background, Mukesh clarified that she is a YouTuber who has made travel videos for her channel.
He added:
“Jyoti has made videos for her YouTube channel at different places and has also gone abroad with a visa.”
Jyoti was arrested on May 26 for allegedly sharing sensitive information with a Pakistani citizen. After her arrest, the court sent her to 14 days of judicial custody.
As per police reports, Jyoti is accused of being in regular contact with a Pakistani officer and travelling to Pakistan twice. It is alleged that she met the Pakistani officer, Ahsan-ur-Rahim, in Delhi. During initial investigations, Jyoti informed the police that in 2023, she had gone to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi to apply for a visa. She said that she met a man there named Ahsan-ur-Rahim, who also goes by the name Danish.

The case is being handled by the CID Crime Branch, and more facts are being verified. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarthak Sarangi, who is part of the investigation team, said:
“We have just received information that YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra visited Puri’s Jagannath temple and posted a video regarding it on Instagram.”
He added more details about her travels and contacts:
“She also visited Chilika and Konark. She was in touch with a YouTuber from Odisha.”
IGP Sarangi further assured that the investigation is ongoing and authorities are in contact with the Haryana Police:
“We are verifying all the facts. We are in touch with our counterparts in Haryana regarding Jyoti Malhotra.”
