He stressed that access to e-libraries, digital resources and modern technology will not only improve lawyers’ efficiency but also strengthen the justice delivery system.
Justice Kant was addressing judicial officers and advocates at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Hisar Bar Association at the local judicial complex.
Highlighting the rapid rise in cybercrime, digital arrest scams, online frauds and technology-based offences, the CJI said that lawyers must develop a strong understanding of technology and digital evidence to argue such cases effectively.
“The graph and nature of crimes are changing rapidly. To deal with such offences, advocates must be equipped with modern tools and technological knowledge,”
Justice Kant said.
He added that the Indian judiciary has made extensive use of modern technology, setting a global example during the Covid-19 pandemic by ensuring uninterrupted justice delivery through virtual courts and digital platforms.
Justice Kant described advocates as the most crucial link in ensuring timely justice for common citizens and said that reducing judicial delays through better infrastructure and digital resources must remain a top priority.
With India’s growing economy and increased foreign investment, he noted a rise in commercial disputes and corporate litigation, requiring lawyers to adapt their strategies to meet modern judicial requirements.
“Tomorrow, you may be required to file or argue a case beyond the territorial jurisdiction of this country. Young lawyers must prepare themselves to become global lawyers,”
the CJI told the gathering.

he said, expressing gratitude for the love, mentorship and support he received from the Hisar Bar.
He also praised the illustrious history of the Hisar Bar, stating that its members have rendered invaluable service to the nation.
Earlier, Hisar Bar Association President Sandeep Boora welcomed the CJI. Senior advocate P K Sandhir described the occasion as historic, saying it marked a golden chapter for the Bar Association as a former member now occupies the highest judicial office in the country.
Justice Kant’s wife, Savita Vashisht and Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu were among those present.
Justice Kant also addressed judicial officers and advocates at a felicitation ceremony organised by the Hansi Bar Association, where he reiterated the growing role of technology in the judiciary. He said court judgments are being translated into regional languages to improve public access and understanding.
He welcomed the Haryana government’s decision to make Hansi the 23rd district of the state and requested the authorities to provide e-library facilities at the Hansi judicial complex to benefit advocates.
