During an Independence Day function, Thackeray sarcastically remarked, “We have great faith in our Chief Justice, as the decision on the Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena split will definitely come in the next 50 to 60 years. I am sure of this. I’m not saying anything wrong. When we ask for an earlier date, they (the Chief Justice) tell us not to give them orders. So, with folded hands, we wait. Perhaps in this life or the next, we will get justice.”

Maharashtra: Uddhav Thackeray has taken a strong stance against Chief Justice Dhananjaya Chandrachud, questioning how long the Supreme Court will take to deliver its verdict on the Shiv Sena and NCP split.
During an Independence Day function, Thackeray sarcastically remarked,
“We have great faith in our Chief Justice, as the decision on the Nationalist Congress Party and Shiv Sena split will definitely come in the next 50 to 60 years. I am sure of this. I’m not saying anything wrong. When we ask for an earlier date, they (the Chief Justice) tell us not to give them orders. So, with folded hands, we wait. Perhaps in this life or the next, we will get justice.”
Thackeray made these comments during a joint meeting of the Maha Vikas Aghadi opposition in Mumbai. He further criticized Chandrachud by referencing Bangladesh’s struggle for independence and questioned the Chief Justice’s focus on foreign matters.
“Bangladesh gained freedom due to India, but if we in India don’t understand the value of freedom, why were we even born here? What position are you sitting in? You talk about events in other countries, but in Bangladesh, there was so much tyranny that the people took to the streets, forcing both the Prime Minister and Chief Justice to resign. Is that democracy acceptable to you?”
he asked.
Thackeray also noted that history will judge both politicians and Chandrachud for their actions, emphasizing that this is a battle for democracy and independence. His comments reflect growing frustration among his party over the slow pace of Supreme Court hearings regarding the recognition of the Shiv Sena Shinde faction and the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP as the legitimate representatives of their parties.
UBT Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has echoed these concerns, frequently expressing frustration over continuous delays and fresh hearing dates. Similarly, Supriya Sule, Working National President of the NCP Sharad Pawar faction, highlighted the ongoing struggle, stating that even though they won elections, the fight remains one of principles.
