The group also highlighted its other actions, including legal efforts on disputed religious sites and property acquisitions linked to Dawood Ibrahim.

This demand comes shortly after the Uttar Pradesh Police denied any plans to reopen the case of these riots, which had resulted in several deaths.
Simran Gupta, the national president of Hindu Shakti Dal, has emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, claiming that both state and central governments at the time had shielded the accused.
“During the riots in Sambhal in 1978, efforts were made to shield the perpetrators, resulting in 48 accused being acquitted. The families of the victims have not received justice to this day,”
-Gupta stated while addressing the media.

He appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action.
“A CBI and NIA investigation is essential to uncover the reality and deliver justice to the families of the victims,”

Hindu Shakti Dal identifies itself as an organization committed to protecting Sanatan Dharma, claiming a membership of about 30,000 people across India. Gupta also mentioned the group’s recent actions, such as his alleged involvement in acquiring six properties previously linked to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim in Mumbai.

Additionally, he highlighted legal petitions, including one related to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah and another ongoing case concerning the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal.
On November 24, there was violence during a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in the Kot Garvi area of Sambhal. This incident resulted in the deaths of four people and left several others, including security personnel, injured.
Earlier, on January 10, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath remarked that no disputed structure should be referred to as “a mosque.”
He added that the principles of Islam do not support the construction of mosque-like structures at disputed sites, further fueling the debate.
