After KMKZ accused Do Patti’s hit song Raanjhan of stealing his beat, Sachet-Parampara revealed YouTube and Spotify confirmed their authorship. The duo has now issued a defamation notice and plans strict legal action.

Days after international music producer KMKZ accused the makers of the film Do Patti of copying his music, composer duo Sachet-Parampara have strongly denied the allegation. KMKZ had claimed that the hit track Raanjhan from the movie used his piano bit without permission.

However, the composers have now issued a clarification, rejecting the charges and warning of strict legal action against him.

In their statement, Sachet-Parampara explained that the accusation has no basis and is only an attempt to create controversy.

They said,

“The person alleging they composed the music for Raanjhan is making completely baseless accusations, clearly intended to stir controversy and gain visibility. With the consultation of my lawyers, we have issued a defamation notice, and we are prepared to take strict legal action to address this malicious attempt to discredit our work.”

The composer duo also stated that they have verified their authorship of the song through multiple international streaming platforms.

They revealed,

“We’ve already provided the original session files and piano scores to YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming platforms, all of which confirmed our authorship and rejected any other copyright claims.”

According to the analysis presented by the duo, the track Raanjhan is built on a standard F# major chord progression, which is widely used in the music industry. The detailed breakdown shows that the song uses a series of chords including F#5, F#5 major 7, B sus 2, E flat minor, D flat, and E flat minor. The conclusion given in the analysis stated that, “The progression is neither unique to any one artist nor grounds for plagiarism.”

Meanwhile, KMKZ had taken to Instagram last week to level the allegation against T-Series and the composers.

In his video, he said,

“I produced the number one song in India and I didn’t even know about it. Here’s what happened. So, I’m a music producer. I sell beats online and I go by KMKZ… I posted this beat about 2 years ago. And then fast forward to just recently, someone sent me this message saying that they found a song and they recognised the piano as one of my beats, and they didn’t see me credited. So, they wanted me to know about it.”

The producer further added that he had tried to contact the label but received no reply. He said,

“So, I don’t really know what to do now because they pretty much just ripped the beat off of YouTube and didn’t contact me or pay me or credit me or anything. And now they have a number one song on the Indian Billboard.”

The controversy surrounds the film Do Patti, a Netflix release directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi and written by Kanika Dhillon.

The movie, which came out in October 2024, features Kajol and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. Sachet-Parampara composed four out of the five songs in the film’s soundtrack, including the popular track Raanjhan.

This legal dispute may now escalate further, as Sachet-Parampara have already issued a defamation notice and expressed readiness to take strict action. On the other hand, KMKZ maintains that his piano beat was lifted without permission.
