New Delhi: Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda shared his experience following a visit to the Supreme Court, describing it as both “overwhelming and enlightening.”

In an interview, Hooda praised Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, for modernizing the judicial process by making it paperless and introducing live streaming of proceedings.

Reflecting on the matters he observed, Hooda mentioned attending a case related to idol immersion rituals of Lord Ganesh in Pune.

He remarked,

“The sense of decorum, respect, and the immense responsibility of justice is palpable.”

He added,

“Witnessing issues ranging from allowing dhol Tasha playing during the Ganapathi festival to hearings on death penalty conversion decisions highlights the profound impact these decisions will have on society.”

Randeep Hooda expressed his admiration for Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud’s efforts in modernizing the judicial system, including the introduction of paperless processes and live streaming of proceedings.

Hooda remarked,

“It’s so modern and up-to-date. While the old fans still hang from the ceilings, the court is now air-conditioned and digitized with state-of-the-art mics, audio, and computing systems.”

He further praised the CJI’s initiative, saying,

“Thanks to the efforts of CJI DY Chandrachud, the system is now paperless, live-streamed, and with orders issued in regional languages, making it more accessible to the public.”

When asked about the difference between reel and real life, Hooda noted that films rarely portray the progress of India’s judicial system.

He said,

“Most movies entertain us with lower court proceedings, but I haven’t seen any film that captures the magnitude of the Supreme Court’s progress. I hope we can encapsulate the new India and judiciary in a film soon,”

Hooda also expressed gratitude to his friend, advocate Vineet Dhanda, for facilitating his visit to the Supreme Court despite not being involved in any case.

Hooda shared,

“I felt fortunate to observe the court without being part of a case a big relief, I must say. Thanks to my dear friend Vineet Dhanda, standing counsel for the Union of India, I had the opportunity to experience the atmosphere first hand,”

Reflecting on the judiciary’s role, he added,

“I’ve been considering ideas that humanize the judiciary, their biases, and the immense responsibility they carry to make decisions that impact society. The isolation they endure while living within society is a cross they bear with such dignity.”

Randeep Hooda shared his experience of meeting Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, saying,

“I had a wonderful interaction with the Vice President and got to see the person behind the significant position he holds. His vast knowledge of law and society, coupled with his humanity, positivity, sense of humor, and charm, was truly inspirational.”

Hooda, who belongs to the same Jat community, expressed pride in Dhankhar’s position, noting,

“After Chaudhary Charan Singh and Chaudhary Devi Lal, Jagdeep Dhankhar is the one holding such a prestigious constitutional post. It’s a great source of pride for the community and for me personally. The community’s contributions extend beyond the armed forces and sports, and I hope to make a similar impact as an artist.”
