NEW DELHI: Recently (27th June), Indian Railways launched the Sangyaan App, a mobile application aimed at providing detailed information on three new criminal laws set to come into effect from July 1. These laws include the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which will replace the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively.

However, it is developed by the tech team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
The Sangyaan App is designed to educate and empower RPF personnel by offering comprehensive insights into both the new and existing legal frameworks. Its key features include user-friendly navigation, a searchable database, and offline access, making it a practical tool for staying informed about the latest legal developments in India.

The Sangyaan app offers several key features:
- Comprehensive Legal Access: Provides easy access to the bare acts of BNS, BNSS, and BSA 2023, optimized for mobile viewing. Users can read, search, and refer to these laws on the go.
- Comparison of Laws: Includes a Corresponding Sections Comparison table to directly compare specific sections of the new and old laws, aiding in understanding the changes and continuities in the legal framework.
- Section-wise Analysis: Offers detailed analysis of key sections of BNSS and BNS, focusing on their applicability in field operations from various procedural perspectives.
- Advanced Search Tools: Features advanced search functionalities allowing users to navigate efficiently through the legal texts section-wise, chapter-wise, and subject-wise, facilitating quick access to relevant information.
- Inclusive Legal Database: Apart from the new laws, includes other crucial legal acts and rules related to railway security such as The Railway Protection Force Act, 1957, The Railway Act, 1989, The Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1966, and RPF Rules, 1987. This ensures comprehensive access to all essential legal information relevant to railway protection.
- User-Friendly Design: Designed for ease of use and precision, Sangyaan enables users to engage efficiently with critical legal information, enhancing their understanding and application of laws in RPF operations.
