NEW DELHI: On November 27, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, commented on the charges involving industrialist Gautam Adani, stating that it was expected for the Adani Group to deny the allegations made by a US court. He also called for Adani’s arrest in connection with these charges.

Gandhi remarked, “Do you think Adani will admit to the charges? Of course, he will deny them. The issue is that he must be arrested, as we’ve been saying.”

He also pointed out that people were being detained for lesser offenses, while Adani had been indicted in the US for a vast amount of money, accusing the Union Government of shielding him.

In response, AGEL issued a statement dismissing the media reports on the alleged bribery and corruption charges against Adani officials as “incorrect.”

“Hundreds of people are being arrested on tiny charges, and the gentleman (Gautam Adani) has been indicted in the United States for thousands of crores. He should be in jail, and the government is protecting him,”

he said.

The company clarified that neither Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani, nor Vineet Jaain had been charged with any violation of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) as per the indictment by the US DOJ or the civil complaint from the US SEC.
