Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the development via social media, highlighting the constitutional authority exercised under Article 217 for these appointments. According to the announcement, Advocate Sandeep Taneja has been appointed as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court.
Additionally, Advocates Baljinder Singh Sandhu, Bipin Gupta, Sanjeet Purohit, Ravi Chirania, and Anuroop Singhi have been appointed as Additional Judges of the Rajasthan High Court. Further strengthening the Delhi High Court, four judicial officers, Smt. Sangeeta Sharma, Shri Vinod Kumar, Smt. Shail Jain, and Smt. Madhu Jain has been appointed as Judge.
These appointments are expected to enhance judicial efficiency by reducing case pendency and expediting the delivery of justice in both Rajasthan and Delhi. The blend of advocates from the Bar and experienced judicial officers from within the system reflects a commitment to merit, diversity, and balanced representation. This step is part of a broader initiative to address the mounting backlog in Indian courts and reaffirm the government’s commitment to a robust, responsive, and accessible judicial system.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, in his X post, stated,
“In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President is pleased to appoint the following High Court Judges/Additional Judges.”
