“There is no strength bigger than people’s strength. This is the effect of the protest we did for people.”
Earlier in the day, Kishor arrested during his fast-unto-death protest over alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). He was taken to Beur jail after declining to accept the conditions of his bail bond.
As he exited the jail in the evening, Kishor addressed a crowd of protesting BPSC aspirants. He mentioned that he previously been offered conditional bail but chose to reject it, expressing his willingness to face jail time instead,
“Police took me to Beur jail but they had no documents to keep me there, and by then the court’s final order came. The court took cognizance of our demand and granted unconditional bail.”
Kishor’s lawyer, Kumar Amit, claimed that the JSP leader was taken to multiple locations in Patna based on “someone’s instruction.”
He noted that, according to Supreme Court guidelines and amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Kishor should have received bail directly from the police station.
Amit said,
“I don’t know on whose instruction he was taken to several places in Patna for 6-8 hours. He was then brought to court, and initially, the court may not have fully understood the situation and granted him conditional bail, which he did not accept. I returned to court, and after some time, the court comprehended the matter and granted unconditional bail.”
Kishor apprehended at Gandhi Maidan early in the morning due to an FIR filed against him last week for conducting an ‘Aamaran anshan’ there, in violation of a Patna High Court order that prohibited such demonstrations outside the Gardani Bagh locality.
