Kolkata: A police guard found dead with a bullet injury on the premises of the City Civil Court in Kolkata, prompting authorities to suspect a possible suicide, though an investigation is ongoing.
The incident has raised concerns, leading to a thorough probe as officials explore all potential angles to determine the cause of death.

He had sustained a bullet wound to the forehead.
A senior police officer stated,
“It is likely that he may have shot himself with his 9mm service pistol, which was found lying beside his body. We have begun an investigation that will consider all possibilities.”
Reports indicate that the police guard had been struggling with depression for some time.
The officer added,
“CCTV footage has been requested, and senior police officials, members of the detective department, and forensic teams are currently on-site.”
A case has been registered at the Hare Street Police Station, and the guard’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
A post-mortem examination will play a crucial role in confirming the cause of death. If inconsistencies arise, authorities may invoke Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for homicide or Section 306 IPC for abetment of suicide, depending on forensic findings.
