A tragic road accident killed advocates Vaishnavi Thakur and Ritik Thakur of the Patna High Court on NH-31 in Kishanganj while returning from Siliguri; their son and driver were seriously injured.

PATNA: A tragic road accident on Saturday has left the advocate community in Patna in mourning. Advocate Vaishnavi Thakur of the Patna High Court and her husband, advocate Ritik Thakur, lost their lives in the accident, while their son and car driver sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred on National Highway-31 in the Dhanthola area of Kishanganj.

Reports indicate that Vaishnavi Thakur was returning to Patna from Siliguri with her husband and son after a vacation when their Toyota Fortuner was struck by a speeding truck at around 12:30 PM on Saturday.

The collision was severe, resulting in Vaishnavi Thakur dying at the scene, while Ritik Thakur succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver fled the scene immediately following the accident. Local residents quickly came to assist, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital.

The couple’s son and their driver are currently receiving treatment in the hospital for serious injuries, with doctors describing their conditions as critical.

Vaishnavi Thakur was the daughter-in-law of Senior Advocate Ajay Thakur, a prominent lawyer at the Patna High Court. The family resides in the Bhootnath Road area of Patna, with both Ajay Thakur and his son Ritik Thakur, along with daughter-in-law Vaishnavi Thakur, actively practicing at the High Court.

The news of the accident has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity. Members of the Patna High Court Bar Association and many advocates have expressed profound sorrow, characterizing the incident as a significant loss for the community.
