BREAKING | Patna Civil Court on High Alert After Bomb Threat: Email Claims RDX IEDs Planted, Evacuation Ordered

Patna Civil Court was placed on high alert after an email claimed that RDX-based IEDs had been planted inside the campus. Authorities immediately ordered evacuation, marking the third such bomb threat reported in recent times today.

Patna: The Civil Courts in Patna issued an urgent safety alert on January 8, 2026, after receiving an email claiming that three RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) would be detonated on the court campus.

The threat email was allegedly sent in the name of an individual identified as Arun Kumar, who was described as a member of the LTTE, though the sender remains unknown.

According to an official communication sent by the L/C Registrar of the Civil Courts, Patna, to the Secretary of the District Bar Association (DBA), the administration circulated the alert immediately after receiving the threatening email.

The letter noted that the email dated January 8, 2026, specifically warned of an explosion within the Civil Court premises on the same day.

Responding to the threat, the L/C Registrar directed the District Bar Association to inform all its members without delay and ensure that the entire court campus was evacuated for safety reasons. The Registrar emphasised that the communication was being sent in compliance with directions issued following the receipt of the threat email.

The letter clearly stated that all members of the District Bar Association must vacate the Civil Court, Patna, immediately in view of the potential danger.

The information was officially conveyed “for your information, marking the seriousness with which the judiciary and court administration treated the matter.

The threat has triggered heightened security measures, and further verification by law-enforcement agencies is expected to determine the authenticity of the email and the identity of the sender.

This incident marks the third time that a bomb threat has been issued , showing that such warnings are not new for the campus.

Earlier, On 12th September,2025, High drama unfolded in two major courts of the country after both the Delhi High Court and the Bombay High Court received bomb threat emails, leading to temporary evacuations and suspension of proceedings.

In Delhi, panic spread after the High Court administration received an e-mail threatening an attack. The message, which reached the registrar general at around 8:39 am, warned of explosions in judges’ chambers and courtrooms around mid-day.

However, Delhi Police later declared the threat a hoax, confirming that no explosives were found.

Previously, the Bombay High Court administration also received a bomb threat email.

Both incidents created panic and disrupted judicial proceedings, but officials confirmed that normal functioning resumed once the premises were declared safe.
