NEW DELHI: Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai is currently on a three-day official visit to Mauritius at the invitation of Chief Justice of Mauritius, Rehana Bibi Mungly-Gulbul. His visit underscores the growing depth of the India-Mauritius partnership, spanning judicial cooperation, education, culture, and people-to-people ties.
On Thursday, CJI Gavai called on the President of Mauritius, Dharambeer Gokhool. The discussions revolved around the multifaceted India-Mauritius relationship, with a special focus on the strong educational partnership and the collaborative ties between judicial institutions of both nations.
CJI Gavai also met Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam. The dialogue centered on the vibrant cultural connection and enduring people-to-people ties that form the backbone of the India-Mauritius relationship. Prime Minister Ramgoolam recalled his recent successful state visit to India, expressing his appreciation for the growing bilateral cooperation.
In another crucial interaction, CJI Gavai met Deputy Prime Minister Paul Berenger. Their meeting highlighted the enduring historical and cultural bonds that continue to bring India and Mauritius closer together.

Marking the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, CJI Gavai and his family participated in celebrations at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Mauritius. They paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, reaffirming the shared values of peace, non-violence, and unity that continue to inspire both nations.
The Chief Justice of Mauritius hosted an official dinner in honour of CJI Gavai and his delegation.
