The Lucknow Police issued a strict directive stating that parents will be penalized if their minor children are caught driving vehicles. Lucknow: The Lucknow Police Commissionerate issued a new directive prohibiting children under the age of 18 from operating two-wheelers and four-wheelers within the district. The police emphasized that this measure implemented for the safety and protection of minors.

All parents, guardians, and vehicle owners in Lucknow have been formally notified that it is illegal for anyone below the age of 18 to drive any type of motorized vehicle without a valid driving license.

This newly implemented regulation mandates that parents will be held accountable and face legal penalties if their minor children are found operating any motor vehicle.

The police warned that they will take strict legal action against any parent whose underage child is found operating a two-wheeler or four-wheeler.

Under the provisions of the police act, if a child is caught driving a vehicle, the following penalties and fines can be imposed:

  1. The parents, guardians, or the registered owner of the vehicle can be prosecuted under Section 125 of the Indian Penal Code.
  2. A fine of up to Rs. 25,000 can be levied.
  3. The vehicle’s registration may be cancelled for a period of 12 months.
  4. The child can be prohibited from obtaining a driving license until they reach the age of 25.

The Lucknow Police urge all citizens to ensure their children do not drive and to strictly follow this rule. Violators will face strict consequences.
