During a visit to Ladakh, CJI Surya Kant praised Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena while inaugurating court complexes in Leh and Kargil, highlighting his leadership and administrative potential for regional development.

During his recent trip to Leh, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant praised Ladakh’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. CJI Kant visited Ladakh to inaugurate the district court complexes in Leh and Kargil, along with the office of the Legal Services Authority.
CJI Kant remarked,
“Your Lieutenant Governor is dynamic. He has passion for it. Now that he is here as administrator, it can really do wonders,”
He complimented the LG on March 28 during a conversation with Leh’s Chief Horticulture Officer Kunzang Wangmo. The exchange, recorded after a tree-planting event at the court complex, included a discussion about the adverse effects of fertilizers.
CJI Kant told Wangmo,
“The best part is organic, natural. In most parts of the country, people are using so much spray and chemicals,”
Later, while speaking to LG Saxena, CJI Kant added:
“Your Chief Horticulture Officer, she is also very committed. I just told her that you are fortunate to have such a dynamic administrator.”
A local media outlet, Reach Ladakh, has uploaded a video of the Leh District Court Complex inauguration and the CJI’s informal talk with Wangmo on YouTube.
CJI Kant arrived in Leh on March 27 and was received at the airport by LG Saxena, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Chief Justice Arun Palli, and other officials.
On March 28, he officially opened the Leh court complex, and the following day he inaugurated the new District Court Complex at Kargil from a conference hall at Hotel Grand Dragon in Leh.
During his stay, he also addressed Army personnel at a military camp and participated in a large camp and awareness event titled “Empowering Tribals through Legal Services and Defence Civil Action” at Rinchen Auditorium Hall, Leh. The Ladakh Legal Services Authority organized the programme in partnership with the Army’s 14 Corps.
He also held a press conference after the inaugurations, saying he was fortunate to be the first CJI to make an official visit to Leh.
CJI Kant said,
“Every citizen of Ladakh is pride of India. India’s judiciary and every Indian citizen has an emotional attachment to Ladakh,”
