NEW DELHI: The Rohini Court Bar Association (RCBA) has issued a circular urging all advocates of Delhi’s district courts to join a collective protest against a recent notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The notification, dated 13th August 2025, has been described by the RCBA as arbitrary and illogical, severely affecting the right to access justice for citizens.
Highlights from the Circular
- Meeting of the Coordination Committee:
The circular mentions that a meeting of the Coordination Committee of all District Court Bar Associations in Delhi was held on 27th August 2025. During this meeting, it was unanimously resolved that all district bar associations should continue their agitation against the notification by abstaining from work on 28th August 2025. - Restrictions on Officials:
The notification prohibits Public Prosecutors, Police Officials (including Nayab Courts), Mediators, and LADC from appearing before the courts, creating widespread concern among legal professionals. - Call for Public Demonstration:
All members have been requested to assemble at 11:00 AM near the National Flag, Central Hall. From there, they will carry out a demonstration on the roads outside the Rohini Court Complex, aiming to raise public awareness about the serious consequences of this notification.
- Planned Assembly on 29th August 2025:
Advocates of the RCBA and Delhi/NCR have been specifically requested to assemble before Central Hall, Tis Hazari Court at 11:30 AM on 29th August 2025. From this point, participants will proceed to the Lieutenant Governor’s House to express their collective grievance. - Appeal to the Judiciary:
The RCBA also humbly requested the Hon’ble Principal District & Sessions Judges of North and North-West Delhi to extend their cooperation and ensure that no adverse judicial orders are passed against participating advocates during the course of this collective protest.
