New Delhi: In a powerful stance against police violence, the Coordination Committee of all Bar Associations of Delhi has announced that lawyers will abstain from work on November 4, 2024. This decision follows a recent incident in Ghaziabad, where an innocent lawyer allegedly suffered a brutal attack orchestrated by the police under the directive of a district judge.
The Resolution from the Coordination Committee emphasized, “This heinous act of violence against a member of the Bar cannot be tolerated.” In response, a unanimous decision was made to abstain from work as a show of solidarity and to call for justice and accountability. Lawyers across all Delhi district courts are urged to stand together and join the protest by suspending regular work for the day.
The Coordination Committee has condemned the attack and expressed its determination to protect the rights and safety of legal professionals. “We urge all lawyers to participate in abstain from work to show solidarity with the affected lawyer and to protest against police brutality,” the Committee declared.

The protest aims to bring attention to police actions directed by judicial authorities, which have caused public concern and raised questions regarding the professional safety of lawyers. The Coordination Committee’s call to action encourages the legal community to ‘raise their voices against this injustice,’ advocating for a judicial environment where lawyers can operate without fear of violence or retribution.
As the legal community prepares for November 4, this unified response reflects a commitment to the principles of justice and safety for legal professionals.
