The West Bengal Bar Council has cancelled the lawyer license of Monojit Mishra, the main accused in the Kolkata law college rape case, following growing outrage and a formal complaint from the victim.

Kolkata: The West Bengal Bar Council has revoked the lawyer license of Monojit Mishra, the main suspect in the Kolkata law college rape case.
This decision follows the termination of Mishra’s services by the South Calcutta Law College just a day earlier, along with those of two other accused individuals.
The Bar Council’s decision came after a formal complaint was lodged regarding the alleged rape of a 24-year-old law student at the college, highlighting Mishra’s involvement in this serious crime.
According to the report, a meeting of the Bengal Bar Council took place on Wednesday, where the resolution to cancel Mishra’s license was made. With his license revoked, Mishra is now prohibited from representing any clients in courts throughout West Bengal.
Simultaneously, the law college convened a meeting to expel Mishra and the other co-accused. Mishra, along with fellow students Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed, was arrested after the incident was reported.
Currently, they remain in police custody. Mishra faces accusations of raping a first-year law student on the college premises on June 25.
A girl student from a law college in South Kolkata was allegedly gangraped inside the college campus. Police have arrested three people in this case, including a staff member and a former student.
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with an alleged gang rape of a student at South Calcutta Law College in Kasba, according to police reports.

The 24-year-old victim arrived at the college around noon on the same day to fill out examination forms and initially waited in the college union room. According to her complaint, the main accused instructed that the main gate be locked, after which she was allegedly raped in the security guard’s room on campus.
In her complaint, the woman reported that the main accused pressured her to marry him, but she refused, citing an existing relationship. She alleged that he then threatened to harm her boyfriend and involve her parents in false cases before confining her at the college and assaulting her, resulting in injuries despite her attempts to resist.
As per police reports, the accused have been identified as 30-year-old Manojit Mishra, 20-year-old Pramit Mukherjee, and 19-year-old Zaib Ahmed. Out of the three, one is a former student of the college, while the other two are still studying there.
