Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Tirath Singh Thakur, described the Mahakumbh as a powerful medium to connect the world with India’s rich cultural heritage. During his visit, he spent over three hours under the sacred Vatavriksha (Banyan tree), reflecting on the enduring strength of Sanatan culture. Justice Thakur emphasized the harmony and unity embedded in this ancient tradition.

Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Tirath Singh Thakur, visited the Mahakumbh at the Sangam, known as the largest cultural gathering in the world. He spent over three hours beneath the sacred Mahavatar Banyan tree, engaging in discussions about the enduring strength of Sanatan culture and harmony.

Accompanied by his wife, Amita Thakur, and their son, he explored the Kriya Yoga Ashram, investigating into the teachings of Mahavatar Baba, including concepts of immortality and omnipresence.

Justice Thakur remarked,

“The Mahakumbh serves as the greatest medium to connect the global community with India’s vast cultural heritage.”

Arriving at the ashram around 6 PM, Justice Thakur received a traditional tilak from Swami Yogi Satyam, the founder and president of the Kriya Yoga Ashram and Research Institute. He then visited the Kriya Yoga temple, which he described as extraordinary.

Upon asking about its unique structure, Swami Yogi Satyam explained that it is designed around the six chakras, constructed by disciples of Mahavatar Baba after he initiated Yukteswar Giri into Kriya Yoga during the 1894 Mahakumbh, held under the same Banyan tree.

The temple symbolizes the seven chakras, Muladhara, Swadhisthana, Manipura, Anahata, Vishuddhi, Ajna, and Sahasrara. It is believed that meditation on these chakras grants eight siddhis (spiritual powers) and nine treasures.

Justice Thakur also sought information about the scientific basis of Kriya Yoga’s efficacy in treating various physical and mental conditions.

Additionally, he interacted with over 500 practitioners from countries such as the United States, Canada, Singapore, Austria, Brazil, Australia, and Italy. The foreign practitioners expressed their desire for long-term visas from the Narendra Modi government to continue their practice at the ashram and enhance their health and happiness through Kriya Yoga.

The Mahakumbh Mela is a grand religious and cultural festival in India, considered the largest peaceful gathering of people in the world. It is held every 12 years, rotating among four locations: Prayagraj (Allahabad), Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nasik. A smaller version, called the Ardh Kumbh Mela, is celebrated every six years at two of these locations, Prayagraj and Haridwar.
