“Ellarigu Namaskara”: Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju Takes Oath as Karnataka High Court Judge

Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju was sworn in as a Judge of the Karnataka High Court by Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru. Beginning her speech in Kannada, she expressed gratitude and pledged to serve with dedication and humility.

Bengaluru: Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju took oath this morning as a Judge of the Karnataka High Court. The ceremony was held in Bengaluru, where Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru administered the oath of office to her.

Justice Ganju, who was recently transferred from the Delhi High Court to Karnataka, was warmly welcomed by the legal fraternity.

The Chairman of the Karnataka State Bar Council, Mittalakod Shidlingappa Shekharappa, extended his greetings and expressed support for her new role.

He said,

“On behalf of Karnataka State Bar Council and on my own, I assure you our full cooperation in your endeavor to dispense justice as a champion of law and equity.”

In her reply, Justice Ganju began her speech with a heartfelt gesture in Kannada, saying,

“Ellarigu namaskara. Many thanks for your kind words. It is a privilege and an honour … I extend my deep appreciation to the Chief Justice, my brother and sister judges and the entire legal fraternity at the Delhi High Court whose guidance and camaraderie has shaped my journey.”

Justice Ganju reflected on her transfer and described it as a moment of both personal and professional transformation.

She said,

“Transitioning to a new court and a new city marked not just a change of place but a renewed sense of duty. The reputation of the Karnataka High Court for its legal scholarship, judicial independence and rich legacy is both inspiring and humbling.”

Expressing her commitment to her new role, she added,

“I approach this new responsibility with a resolve to contribute meaningfully to this great institution.”

Justice Ganju’s appointment has been seen as a positive step for the Karnataka High Court, which continues to uphold a tradition of judicial excellence. Her words reflect her humility, gratitude, and dedication to justice.

The presence of Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru, members of the Bar Council, and senior advocates from the Karnataka legal community marked the occasion as a significant one for the state judiciary.
