Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar heard vacation bench matters in the Delhi High Court till 9 PM, working nonstop since 10:30 AM. Exhausted, he said, “I am at the end of my tether” during the late hearing.
The vacation bench of the Delhi High Court continued working till 9 PM, On 4th June, under the leadership of Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar. Even after sitting for nearly 11 hours since morning, Justice Shankar kept hearing one case after another with complete dedication.
Justice Shankar, who was appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court on January 8, 2025, directly from the Bar, heard a long list of cases during the summer vacation bench. He started his work at 10:30 A.M. in the morning and continued until late in the night.
During the hearing of a matter where one of the parties requested more time to argue an early hearing plea related to an impleadment application, Justice Shankar made a remark.
He said,
“I am at the end of my tether. And the end of my list. God willing if you come on this side you will understand. I have been sitting since 10.30 am. It is not possible for me to give you much longer.”
This clearly showed the emotional and physical fatigue he was experiencing after a very long day in court. Despite that, he continued hearing matters with sincerity and focus.
Later, while hearing the last matter of the day, Justice Shankar openly expressed how exhausting the day had been.
He said,
“At this point, I am zapped of all energy. It was really been a long day.”
His words reflected the huge pressure and workload that judges often deal with, especially during vacation benches when fewer judges are available to handle a large number of urgent matters.

Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar’s commitment to completing the day’s work despite long hours shows the serious responsibility that comes with the post of a High Court judge.
His dedication to continue working till 9 PM, even while being visibly tired, has received admiration from many in the legal community.
