NEW DELHI: National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) announced that Senior Advocate Harish Salve, one of India’s most prominent legal luminaries, has accepted its invitation to serve as a Distinguished Professor.

Harish Salve, currently a King’s Counsel for the courts of England and Wales, boasts an extraordinary legal career spanning several decades. He served as the Solicitor General of India from 1999 to 2002, during which he represented the country in numerous landmark cases before Indian courts and international tribunals. His expertise covers constitutional law, commercial disputes, and public international law.

Expressing his enthusiasm about Salve’s appointment, Prof GS Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Delhi, said,

“Mr Salve’s association with National Law University Delhi will be highly inspirational to the students, researchers and faculty members.”

Prof Bajpai noted that apart from delivering lectures, Salve will also guide the University’s academic vision in the field of legal profession and practice. His mentorship is expected to strengthen the bridge between academia and the practical world of law.

This isn’t the first time NLU Delhi has welcomed a towering figure from the legal world into its academic leadership. Earlier this year, former Chief Justice of India, Dr Justice DY Chandrachud, was also appointed as a Distinguished Professor, signaling the University’s commitment to giving students direct access to the insights of top legal minds.
