NEW DELHI: For the first time in history, a wedding will take place inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex on February 12. President Droupadi Murmu has approved this special occasion because she was deeply impressed by the dedication and service of the person getting married.
According to media reports, when President Murmu came to know about this officer’s wedding, she personally arranged for the ceremony to be held at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
As per initial reports, the wedding will be a private event with only close relatives and friends attending. Strict security measures will be in place, and all guests will be screened before entry. However, Rashtrapati Bhavan has not yet issued any official statement about the event.
The person who has received this rare honor is CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta. She is currently posted as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She has earned President Murmu’s admiration, making her the first person to get married inside Rashtrapati Bhavan.
According to media reports, Poonam Gupta will tie the knot with Avneesh Kumar, an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF, who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. Their wedding is scheduled for February 12.
The ceremony will have a restricted guest list. Authorities are working on completing the necessary formalities to grant entry permissions to the attendees.
