The Bharat Tiwari encounter in Bhojpur has sparked widespread outrage, with police registering three FIRs against his father, brother, Mukhiya and others. Calling the encounter suspicious, Ara MP alleged an “Encounter Raj” in Bihar, while Jan Suraaj demanded a probe and raised serious questions over police action.

Local residents and villagers in Bhojpur expressed intense anger following the widely discussed encounter involving Bharat Tiwari. In response, the police have registered three separate FIRs, naming Bharat’s father, brother, Bilauti Panchayat Mukhiya, and several other identified and unidentified persons as accused.

While the youth’s family and villagers have leveled serious allegations against the police, the police have filed cases against Bharat’s father, brother, the Panchayat Mukhiya, and others.

They are accused of blocking roads, obstructing government work, and creating unrest by brandishing weapons.

Bharat Tiwari’s father has alleged that his son had thrown away his weapon and surrendered before the police. Despite this, he claims the youth was shot dead. He also stated that Bharat Tiwari had no prior criminal record and was deliberately targeted.

Ara MP Sudama Prasad termed the incident serious and suspicious, alleging that excessive and unnecessary force was used. Earlier, a delegation of CPI(ML) leaders led by Sudama Prasad visited the residence of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari’s family, who was reportedly killed in a police encounter in Bilauti village, on Friday.

Sudama Prasad said that an “encounter raj” was prevailing in Bihar and that several similar incidents have taken place in recent times. He further said that the concerns raised by Bharat Tiwari were connected to public welfare.

In particular, Bharat had repeatedly raised the rehabilitation concerns of erosion-affected families from Jawania village. The MP demanded a special package and proper rehabilitation measures for the displaced residents of Jawania village.

During the delegation’s meeting with the family, Bharat Tiwari’s father claimed that his son was mentally unwell. He said he had requested the police to arrest Bharat and take him to a hospital for treatment. He alleged that the police did not allow him to return home and later informed him that his son had been shot.

He also claimed that villagers were removed from the spot before the incident and that a differently-abled person was assaulted.

Meanwhile, Jan Suraaj has described the incident as a case of murder and demanded an SIT investigation, public disclosure of the post-mortem report, and action against the officials involved.
