Demonstrating his commitment to animal rights, the singer has pledged to donate 10 acres of land exclusively for the care, shelter, and welfare of street dogs.
His appeal comes shortly after the Supreme Court clarified its stance on the implementation of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, reassuring citizens that there is no blanket order for the removal of stray dogs.
Taking to X (Twitter), Mika Singh urged the apex court to ensure that no measures are taken that could harm stray dogs. His statement resonated with animal lovers across the country who have expressed concern over a perceived judicial crackdown on street canines.
“Mika Singh humbly appeals to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India to kindly consider refraining from any actions that may adversely affect the welfare of dogs,”
he wrote.
The tweet quickly gained traction, with many praising the singer for using his platform to advocate for humane dog population control.
Reaffirming his long-standing support for animal welfare initiatives, Mika Singh made a concrete commitment by offering land for dog shelters.
“I respectfully submit that I have sufficient land at my disposal and am fully prepared to donate 10 acres exclusively for the care, shelter, and welfare of dogs,”
he stated.
He added that the land could be used to build dog shelters, medical facilities, and rehabilitation centres, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of stray dogs. However, Mika also highlighted a crucial concern: land alone is not enough.
“My only request is support in terms of proper manpower and caretakers who can responsibly look after these animals,”
he emphasized.
Mika Singh’s appeal coincides with heightened public attention on the Supreme Court’s hearings regarding stray dog issues. During a recent session, the court clarified that it has not ordered the mass removal of street dogs, countering widespread fears.
A three-judge special bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and N.V. Anjaria reassured citizens that their focus remains on effective enforcement of the ABC Rules, 2023.

The Supreme Court stressed that the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, promote a scientific, humane, and sustainable approach to managing stray dog populations.
Key measures under the ABC Rules include:
- Systematic sterilisation
- Vaccination against rabies
- Returning dogs to their original territories
The bench noted that this approach strikes a balance between public safety and animal welfare, especially in light of the rising number of dog-bite incidents across India.
While acknowledging public concerns over safety, the judges observed that local bodies and municipal authorities have largely failed to properly implement the ABC Rules. The court emphasized the need for a coordinated national and local strategy involving infrastructure, trained personnel, and accountability.
